The Software Protection Service reported that the computer could not be activated. The Key Management Service (KMS) determined that the request timestamp is invalid. What this means
The system clocks on the client and the KMS host differ by too much, so the host refused this activation request. This is not a product key problem.
Common causes
- The client system time is wrong.
- The KMS host time is wrong.
- The device has been offline for a long time, so the time has not synced.
Do this first
Compare the client and host clocks, and check that the difference is within a reasonable range.
What to do next
- 1Sync the system time on the client, then try again.
- 2Ask IT to check the time service on the KMS host.
Continue diagnosis from this code
Take what you know into the KMS diagnosis. It will ask a few more questions to narrow this down.
